To coordinate surveying services to ensure optimization of resources and data integrity in order to achieve mining production targets.

Key Performance Areas:
•Coordinate mining survey activities related to mining and engineering requirements, in accordance with Swakop Uranium standard procedures and accepted survey practices.
•Set out blasting patterns and block boundaries in the pit using survey data obtained from designs.
•Record and report Surveying deviations from loading parameters.
•Maintain the spatial information and data sets.
•Perform pit design set outs including ore loading block activities.
•Update any changes to the surface plan.
•Install grade boxes and set up grade laser for pit floor and ramp control.
•Manage execution of topographic surveys.
•Design and survey all control networks on site.
•Conduct precise Engineering surveys.
•Design haul roads, pit slopes and stock piles.
•Ensure adjustment of instruments used by survey operators.
•Ensure that all hazard and risk areas are indicated on the mine plans such as lost steel and misfire.
•Ensure that haul roads and ramps are maintained to the design elevation and gradient.
•Design and conduct deformation monitoring and slope stability surveys.
•Responsible for end of month survey pick-ups and volume reporting.
•Ensure that the correct Staking requirements are met as per the Standard Operating Procedure.
•Assist with survey related projects as may arise, such as alignment survey.
•Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
•Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
•Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, and other characteristics of terrain.
•Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
•Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries, based on legal deeds and titles.
•Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
•Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
•Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using total stations, levels, and (GPS).
•Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
•Coordinate findings with the work of engineering personnel and others concerned with projects.
•Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments. Ensure production of statutory plans to standard.
•Train assistants and Surveyor, and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps.
•Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy.
•Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
•Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.
•Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
•Survey bodies of water to determine navigable channels and to secure data for construction of breakwaters, piers, and other structures.
•Direct aerial surveys of specified geographical areas and ensure accuracy of such survey.
•Develop criteria for the design and modification of survey instruments.

Requirements and experience:
•B.Sc. / B-Tech Degree in Surveying or equivalent qualification.
•5 years mine survey experience of which 2 years should have been on a supervisory level.
•Sound experience and proficiency with mine surveying software and systems.
•Sound knowledge of Slope Stability Monitoring Systems and surveying management systems.
•Must have knowledge of volume reconciliations.
•Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
