To assist in the analysis and management of the expenses in the Assupol Group.

1.Analyse the expenses of Assupol Life

•Ongoing analysis and report on the expenses:
oInitial and renewal components
oPer actuarial class
oFixed vs variable cost of the business
oDirect and indirect attributable expenses
oStrategic projects

2.Assist with expense component of the Assupol Life budget
•Assist with preparation of the expense budget
•Monitor actual expenses against the budget and report on budget overspends
•Propose expense budget adjustments on a quarterly basis

3.Reporting to stakeholders
•Report to budget owners and divisions on a monthly basis regarding their spend per policy.
•Report and present to Group Exco and Expense Management Forum on a monthly basis.
•Continuously propose enhancements that will enable users of the reports to manage expenses more effectively.

4.Analysis of expenses in other entities in the Assupol Group
•Assist with the analysis and reporting on expenses on request by management.

5.Assist the Procurement Committee
•Actively participate in the meeting of the Procurement Committee by assisting with the analysis of proposal received from suppliers.

6.IFRS17 project
•Implementation of expense attribution.
•Being involved in other aspects of the IFRS17 project as allocated from time to time.

7.Special projects
•Assist management with special projects from time to time.
•B.Com Financial Management/Accounting Sciences

•Professional certification, i.e. CIMA, CA(SA) (advantage)

•Advanced computer literacy and knowledge of MS office, especially Excel
•3 years’ Financial/Management reporting experience
•Long term Insurance industry (advantage)

IFRSA good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
SARSGood knowledge on tax principles (advantage)
Long Term Insurance IndustryExperience in long term insurance industry (advantage)


MS Excel AdvancedAbility to do advanced updates and calculations in Excel.
Work ethicsQuality focus and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and without constant supervision
Time managementAll tasks need to be managed to ensure completion within the set cut-off times. Monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines apply.
