BDO South Africa has a vacancy for a Head of Marketing in our Marketing Division in our Johannesburg office.

With the business strategy focused on developing the capacity of the Advisory offering at BDO, and the related goal to grow Advisory’s CAGR by 49% annually for the next five years, there is a need for a specialist Marketing resource to service only the Advisory teams. The current marketing team does not have capacity to provide the required level of dedicated marketing support to Advisory.

The Advisory Marketing and Communications Specialist would market the BDO brand and specifically BDO’s Advisory offering to help Advisory achieve its growth objectives.

Industries Accounting & Auditing
The Head of Marketing is a leadership role accountable for leading all marketing activities in the firm from social media and digital campaigns to advertising and creative projects.
He/She will be responsible for providing guidance to our marketing department by evaluating and developing marketing strategies, planning and coordinating marketing efforts, communicating the marketing plans to those involved, and building awareness and positioning for our firm's brand. He/She will work closely with Sector Heads, Service Line Heads, Business Unit heads and the business development team to develop marketing strategies that will help maximize profits and market share. Finally, he/she will be in charge of organizing company conferences and major events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Lead and manage all Marketing activities in the firm
•Prepare and present a Marketing plan and budget annually that is aligned with the firm’s strategy. Track and report progress against the plan and budget on a regular basis.
•Craft strategies for all Marketing efforts, including Brand positioning, Digital campaigns, Advertising, Communications and Creative projects
•Set, monitor and report on team goals
•Ensure our brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts (like events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material)
•Work closely with Business unit and Sector heads and the business development team to identify opportunities to reach new market segments and to boost brand awareness
•Stay abreast of current market conditions and trends and incorporate new innovations into company marketing plans.
•Ensure that all marketing material, and all initiatives, represent value to customers, including webinars, white papers, and case studies.
•Manage the company’s website and monitor presence on all social media platforms
•Conduct surveys as needed to determine position in the market and advance aggressive marketing plans targeted to addressing customer needs.
•Own communication of marketing information throughout the company as requested and/or required.
•Maintain a strong and influential presence on the BDO Global Marketing Committee

•Ensure that the skills and experience of the team is consistent with the business needs for providing quality in present and future services.
•Establish clear organisational structures and succession plans aligned with appropriate responsibilities, accountabilities and personal development for all staff in line with any anticipated growth.
•Provide support for all staff in keeping with the BDO Values.

•Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of the role and as necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the Marketing team and BDO
•Responsible for his/her own work planning against objectives set in agreement with the Head of Markets.
•Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
•Master’s Degree in Marketing or a Business related field preferred.

•Experience in marketing and running a marketing team.
•Proven marketing campaign experience.
•Solid knowledge of web analytics and Google Adwords
•Experience with CRM software
•Strong copywriting skills.
•Attention to detail.
•Proven ability to manage budgets.
•Professional and proactive work ethic.
•High competence in project and stakeholder management.
•Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
•Experience with digital marketing forms such as social media marketing and content marketing.
•Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask.
•Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
