Specifically, the Training and Development department is focused on creating youth-centred and relevant training opportunities to ensure that YHA youth gained key skills and knowledge to aid their success in the working environment. Program Manager: Head of Business Development
The Program Manager will be required to manage oversee all aspects of program and project operations, planning, implementation and control. The Program Manager will over see three components of BD: Partnerships, Grants and Compliance. The Head of Development is responsible for planning, organising, and directing all of YHA’s business development and relationship management to ensure a healthy pipeline of opportunities for YHA
Strategy development and planning:
Develop strategy in line with organisational strategy to ensure sustainable funding for projects and programs.
Develop, maintain and monitor adherence to development strategy, processes and procedures in line with the capabilities.
Develop annual functional plan including KPIs to track performance (for the function and individuals within it).
Business Development and Fundraising:
Evaluate implementing partners, hosts and funder relationships to determine their needs, levels of engagement and metrics developed to monitor success and indicate when a change is required.
Identify potential stakeholders and relationships to be fostered, RFPs/RFAs and other opportunities that align to YHA service offerings.
Establish and manage relations with government departments. Attend corporate events and networking sessions. Co-ordinate the response of YHA on requests for points of view.
Establish periodic strategic engagements with implementing partners, hosts and funders e.g. funder breakfasts etc. Develop trusted relationships with community groups/leaders to foster improved alignment of service offerings.
Analyse Win Loss ratio to improve proposals and remain competitive.
Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements
Identification and prioritisation of initiatives that will translate into operational projects. Includes agreeing on scope with funder.
Anticipating and addressing customer needs for services offered by YHA. Includes improving the experience of interaction and engagement with the organisation through preferred channels
Identify and evaluate innovation opportunities, prioritise investment and manage overall implementation.
Identify gaps in the organisation’s operations that require specific interventions. These interventions traditionally differ from strategic initiatives in that they require external support to close the gaps identified.
Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
Develop and implement stakeholder plan
Establish and maintain partnerships
Market the programme to various stakeholders
Attend to stakeholder incidents and address and risks associated with stakeholders.
Facilitate working agreements with partners and funders
Establish and maintain grant compliance processes and systems
Support project management staff with compliance
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance to processes and standards
Form part of the strategy reviews, providing reports on the function’s contributions to achieving the objectives.
Ensure that reporting to stakeholders is timeous and accurate.
Master’s Degree or equivalent
Experience and training:
Experience in business development, fundraising or similar role
Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, PPT, Excel and Outlook
Attributes and competencies:
Strong sales ability
Business acumen and analytical
A “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
Skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers
